Finnish-born, internationally recognized cellist Katri Ervamaa is a versatile performer who specializes in chamber music and creative improvisation. Her groups include the “Muse” string trio, Brave New Works new music ensemble (bravenewworks.org) and E3Q, an improvisation-based genre-defying trio with her husband Mark Kirschenmann and percussionist Michael Gould. E3Q is the RC faculty trio and based at the East Quad. They were the first featured artists on the new Block M Records label (blockmrecords.org). In the fall of 2008, Brave New World will publish its first recording, Quintets by Bolcom and Albright. Katri has also recorded with Andrew Bishop’s Hank Williams Project (envoyrecordings.com) and Ed Sarath’s Timescape.
