The dorm was built in 2005, so everything is still new and shiny, but they've had time to work out the kinks. On the first level, there's a large  cafeteria, as well as a community room (with a huge TV!) that can be reserved for big events: 2008-10October-03-P1030109

Every two floors share a 2-story common area that has a kitchen exercise eqipment; here's the view from the 8th floor: 2008-10October-03-P1030113 2008-10October-03-P1030118

Rooms are arranged into quads. Each has it's own separate bathroom and shower, as well as a living space: 2008-10October-03-P1030132

Rooms are about equivalent to RC singles: 2008-10October-03-P1030127

But with a quite different view! 2008-10October-03-P1030129

After touring the dorm, we walked down Woodward to the University of Michigan's Detroit Center, where some classes will be held. (there are busses that regularly run this route.) Here's one of the large classrooms: 2008-10October-04-P1030178

We ended up at Eastern Market. I came home with a pile of tasty food, including bread from Avalon Bakery (blurry, on the left), spices, and honey made in Detroit: 2008-10October-04-P1030187
