Semester in Detroit: Tour of the Dorms
Semester in Detroit hosted a tour Detroit today, including a look around the Wayne State dorm that participants will be living in. Another tour will be scheduled in the near future; stay tuned.
The dorm was built in 2005, so everything is still new and shiny, but they've had time to work out the kinks. On the first level, there's a large cafeteria, as well as a community room (with a huge TV!) that can be reserved for big events:

Every two floors share a 2-story common area that has a kitchen exercise eqipment; here's the view from the 8th floor:

Rooms are arranged into quads. Each has it's own separate bathroom and shower, as well as a living space:

Rooms are about equivalent to RC singles:

But with a quite different view!

After touring the dorm, we walked down Woodward to the University of Michigan's Detroit Center, where some classes will be held. (there are busses that regularly run this route.) Here's one of the large classrooms:
We ended up at Eastern Market. I came home with a pile of tasty food, including bread from Avalon Bakery (blurry, on the left), spices, and honey made in Detroit:
