Art in the Community Forum Splat Bash
The Art in the Community Forum held a Splat Bash yesterday evening -- EQ residents were invited to come to the courtyard and fling paint at a set of fresh canvases. The event certainly built awareness in EQ -- a bunch of folks turned out over two hours in the nice weather. The product will be displayed in an East Quad hallway.
In typical RC fashion, a guitar appeared (played by Matt S, pictured below)
The Forum writes:
The Art in the Community brings together artists of all mediums (whether it be writing, theatre, music, sculpture, drawing, or what have you) and incorporate their product into the public sphere. Whether it is through pairing different mediums to create something new or by staging afternoon workshops at local schools, the forum hopes to help its members branch out, learn from other creative minds and take their work out into the community (of any scale, be it the RC, U of M, or Ann Arbor and surrounding towns).
It's not necessary to consider yourself an "artist" to be a part of the Art in the Community forum -- one goal is to allow students the opportunity to just try on a label they didn't think they would fit into. It's a way help foster connections between mediums and styles and laugh...a lot.
So stop by Thursday nights at 7, pick up a pen, mandolin, or paintbrush and have fun!
