Science, Technology & Society program announces speaker series

The University of Michigan's Science, Technology & Society program has posted its Winter 2009 speaker series. Upcoming lectures by visiting scholars include Latex and Blood: Toward a Visual Economy of Science, Commerce, and American Empire (Feb 9), The Science of Capital (March 16), and Music Without Musicians: How Machines Became Central to Twentieth-Century Musical Culture (March 30).

The program's undergraduate minor, sponsored by the Residential College and open to all LSA students, helps students see beyond the veneer of policy issues to learn about the raw changes in our tools and methods. STS studies the ethical, environmental, and social implications of new tools and methods—and how these affect the developing world.

All events are in 4:00-5:30pm, Room 1014 Tisch Hall, unless otherwise noted.
